A Real Hero

You're a 19 year old kid.
You're critically wounded and dying in
The jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam ..

It's November 11, 1967.

LZ (landing zone) X-ray.

Your unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100 yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the MedEvac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you're not getting out.

Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll never see them again.

As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter.
You look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn't seem real because no MedEvac markings are on it.

Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you.

He's not MedEvac so it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.

Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety.

And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!!

Until all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm.

He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey.

Medal of Honor Recipient,
Captain Ed Freeman, United States Air Force, died last Wednesday at the age of 70, in Boise, Idaho

May God Bless and Rest His Soul.

I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we've sure
hearda whole bunch  about Lindsay Lohan, Dr. Murray, that sicko Sandusky, and a 72- day sham marriage.

Shame on the media !!!

Medal of Honor Winner Captain Ed Freeman

Now... YOU pass this along. Honor this real hero.

Pine Run Knit & Crochet Group

The Pine Run Knit & Crochet Group of ladies really love veterans,
these ladies knitted fifty that is right fifty AFGANS for the veterans
of the Ocala Ritz Veterans Village.  The dated picture of AFGANS
knitted in the past does not give justice to the beautiful AFGANS
knitted for the veterans.  Thank you ladies for showing you care.

Check this Poem out by Larry Hill, A Veteran

A VETERAN’S QUESTION
Lawrence J. Hill, USN (1966-1970)
WOVC Medical Officer, July 12, 2001

Alas, I finally made it home
Yet still why do I feel alone?

My country that I proudly served
Now looks at me and is perturbed

I have no other place to go
A chance my talents there to show

To try once again to be a part
Of the nation that still thrills my heart

I wish to join the world again
A home, a job, and have a friend

But all I see are diverted eyes
And my mind keeps asking all these “WHY’S”?

I served my time and I am proud
Yet no one speaks to me aloud

This land I served is in my heart
Yet still won’t let me be a part

I know I will and I know I can
Just let me be a man again

I believe in me, what I can be
I need the chance to make YOU see

I want my life, I want it back
Clean clothes, a bath, a room I lack

I will survive from day to day
My service taught me that’s the way

I ask not much but a chance to live
A chance to show what I can give

I am a Vet, I served my time
But what this is, is but a crime

So here I sleep beneath a tree
With all I own right next to me

Tomorrow’s just another day
I’ll deal with it, and come what may

But just a chance is all I ask
I’ll stand and work and do the task

I know I will, I know I can
Give me the chance to be that man.

$1.3 Billion dollars

"The administration has sold out an American icon to a foreign company using TARP funds underwritten by taxpayers. Now they are essentially give that same company $1.3 billion of taxpayer money,"

"At a time when American taxpayers must make tough choices to repay their mortgages -- even on houses worth less than they paid -- it is unfathomable that Italian automaker Fiat and its subsidiary Chrysler got away with repaying less than the full amount borrowed from the U.S. government,"

Treasury provided a total of $12.5 billion to Chrysler and its financing arm after the recession hampered auto sales and sent Chrysler and General Motors to the brink of collapse. The funds came from the government's $700 billion bank bailout fund.

Since then, $11.2 billion of the assistance has been repaid, Treasury said. Chrysler repaid $5.1 billion in loans from the government in May. But the $1.3 billion remaining is unlikely to be recovered, Treasury said
.
"With today's closing, the U.S. government has exited its investment in Chrysler at least six years earlier than expected," said Tim Massad, assistant secretary for financial stability.

"This is a major accomplishment and further evidence of the success of the administration's actions to assist the U.S. auto industry, which helped save a million jobs during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression."

Chrysler has made a remarkable turnaround from two years ago, when it was rescued by the government and now owned by Italian auto maker Fiat.
